I was closely watching my twitter account last night, waiting for CHED’s announcement on whether or not there will be classes the next day. Of course, just like most normal college kids, I want the classes cancelled to continue re-reading the 5th Installment of Harry Potter and just study the day after. I wasn’t surprised when I saw CHED trending on twitter. But what struck me most are the baseless comments and false accusations so-called ‘College Students’ tweeted on twitter.
It has come to my mind that deciding on tomorrow’s suspension of classes is not the sole problem of CHED, but also the falling morality of College students nowadays. Imagine, some people told CHED (not the exact words but still the same meaning though) Kung ipapasa niyo sa college ang pagsususpend ng klase ANO PANG SILBI NIYO? Whoever tweeted that was pathetic indeed. You don’t just make some commission because their only job is to let the students know “Due to inclement weather classes are hereby suspended blah blah.” The job of CHED is far better and far deeper than telling students to rejoice because there will be no classes the next day! In case you doubt that, google CHED and make good use of your time.
Another instance, somebody tweeted that he doesn’t want to work in CHED because he doesn’t want his children hating him for not suspending classes. So you actually thought that the sons and daughters of people in CHED hate their parents just because they aren’t suspending classes yet? If they were the thinking kids, they would understand why the CHED cannot suspend classes yet. They have to consider many factors, and for all we know, they never wanted to put the students in peril. Deciding on big things such as this, should be thought over and over considering the millions of students to be affected and they cannot afford to make haphazard decisions.
So college students. Come on! Where are your values? It’s okay to tell CHED what happens in your mind but for goodness’ sake filter your thoughts and watch your words. Act decent and act educated.
I know it is your freedom of speech you are blabbing about but believe me, you also have the obligation to do it responsibly.
