MABUHAY ANG MGA PILIPINONG MANGANGAWIT!
The Coro San Benildo (from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde) and Samiweng Signers (from the Ilocos Region) reigned supreme in the recently concluded 1st Vietnam International Choral Competition held at Hoi An, Vietnam last March 15-21, 2011.
Coro San Benildo, conducted by Lorenzo C. Gealogo, was officially declared as the overall champion in the Folklore Category where the group garnered a Gold Level 5 Merit beating various choirs of diverse nationalities. Moreover, they were proclaimed first runner-up in the Mixed Youth Choir Category together with the PUP High School Choir - receiving Gold Merits respectively proving to the world how culturally endowed Filipinos truly are especially when it comes to music.
The Samiweng Singers, conducted by Robert Caluya and Sherberk Frez Cabrales, also won as overall champions in the Children’s Choir and Sacred Choir Category of the said competition reigning over other youth competitors joining the Interkultur Competition.
The two choirs (Coro San Benildo and Samiweng Singers) competed in the Championship round where they showcased the true blue Filipino talent and dedication.
Certainly, as in the DLS-CSB’s motto, they Did Ordinary Things, Extraordinarily Well!
