NEW PinoyTumblr Submission Guidelines:
We editors would like to improve our on-line Pinoy community here on PinoyTumblr by organizing our posts. Over the past year, we have received numerous complaints and suggestions on how to make the site’s content better. The following guidelines were formulated based on our observations on PinoyTumblr trends and the collated feedback from our followers.
1) All Posts should be about Filipinos, our country, culture, and condition.
2) Event and Promo Announcements are welcome provided that a graphic containing the essential details is included. Supporting text that exceeds 100 words should be cut down and be given a link directed to a page explaining the event in full detail. Public Service Announcements should also follow the same format.
3) News Submissions should be sent as link posts, video posts, or image posts depending on the type of news content. Only the lead text is allowed to be included as the body of the post. Make sure to link the article to its original source.
4) Original Text Compositions such as essays, poetry, etc. that evoke the Philippine condition should be as objective as possible and should help generate open discussion. Posts that lean heavily towards one standpoint are better suited for personal blogs. Good journalistic standards are highly encouraged. Kindly include a page break if the text exceeds 300 words.
5) Photo Posts with watermarks will undergo strict deliberation. Watermarks that exceed 5% of the image’s visual space are deemed self-promoting and thus not for PinoyTumblr. Vacation, event, and food photography without adequate supporting text will be deliberated upon.
6) Original Graphics and Art (including memes) depicting Filipino culture and humor will be screened. The same rules with watermarks apply. Graphics and art from other Filipino artists should be duly credited together with source citation. Typography will automatically be deleted.
7) Original Video Posts are much appreciated. The same criteria for text content will be applied. Filipino music videos, short movies, trailers, and such will be judged depending on the supporting text supplied.
8) Quotations and Conversations should be uttered by significant Filipino personalities and should say something about our culture.
9) Historical Posts, or posts that tackle events in Philippine history, should be submitted at least two days prior to its commemoration day or anniversary.
10) Web Finds that concern the Filipino community should be submitted with accompanying text and links to the original site.
11) Movie Screen Captures of Filipino films, shows, or cartoons should have relevant supporting text either describing the film or its significance to Pinoy culture.
12) Stories that are passed on via e-mail and Facebook should not be submitted, unless they are of great significance to the Filipino community.
13) Gossip and Celebrity Posts should be submitted scarcely. Only those with great impact to the current state of the nation will be published.
14) Celebratory, Congratulatory, Condolence, and Reaction Posts are better suited for personal blogs or as part of the comments section of the site.
15) Check the “submission” tag.
16) All posts should adhere to Tumblr’s Content Policy and Terms of Service.
Any post which does not meet the following guidelines will be deleted. The site administrators and content editors have the right to reject and edit your submissions at any given time according to their discretion. Any questions or concerns about submissions should be sent to staff@pinoytumblr.com.
